Affordable, Fast and Easy DIY Fall Sunflower Wreath Tutorial

Raise your hand if you love pretty fall wreaths? 

Now, raise your hand if you love the prices of those pretty fall wreaths? Yeah, me neither. 

I've been looking for a fall wreath to hang on our front door for a while but every time I found one the price was way more than what I wanted to pay for. I spotted a few that I really liked and decided that I could make one similar for much cheaper. And I did. And I love it! 

And now I'm here to share how I made this so you can make one too. The total cost for this wreath was $18.57 (excluding tax) and took me around 10 minutes to make. 

I was looking for a wooden wreath that was not all brown. I liked ones that had some white in them and Hobby Lobby had the perfect one. They also had tons of fall floral out so I chose two floral pieces and headed home.

Here is what I purchased as well as the supplies I used: 

*  Twisted wood wreath from Hobby Lobby - $9.59 after using a 40% off coupon 

*  Sunflower from Hobby Lobby - $4.79 

*  Flower bunch from Hobby Lobby - $4.19

*  Hot Glue Gun

*  Something sharp to cut the flower stems with as they have metal in them. 

Here is the wreath and flowers I purchased:

I started by cutting off the long stem from the sunflower and removing the wire entirely.

I poked the remainder of the stem through the wood in the wreath. I don't think it has to have hot glue but this was going on my front door so I wanted to make sure it was secure. 

I then removed flowers from the large stem of flowers and intertwined it into the wreath until it looked right.

And that is it! It was so simple and easy and I think it turned out lovely.

Here it is on my teal door. I think it is a really fun fall edition for this season.

DIY Christmas Trees

Christmas! Christmas! I just love it! Can't you tell? Last year two of my friends in Korea made some of their own trees and I thought they were so pretty. I decided to do the same thing so I dove right into the deep dark abyss (also known as Pinterest) searching for the trees I wanted to replicate. I came across a lovely little tutorial by Living Well Spending Less and crafted Dave and I some merry little trees.

I did a few things different than the tutorial. I didn't have jute so I used hemp. Also, see all of those little pearls on the white and green trees? Those pearls came from my mother-in-law. When we went through her belongings I some how knew I would use these and kept them. I think she would smile if she knew I were crafting away with them. 

These trees take a bit of time (mainly cutting out all the circles) but are cheap and quiet a fun crafting project. I wont' steal someone else's tutorial I don't want to take 3 hours creating a new tutorial so I'll just let you hop right on over to this link here.

Thank you, Hobby Lobby! Bring on the DIY crafts and Christmas cards! 

This past Saturday, my Mom and I, went to the Farmers Market. I got zucchini, squash, garlic, kale and basil. 

My Crossfit shoes arrived just in time. They fit perfectly and are oh so comfy. 

This post is short and sweet because I've been packing. Tomorrow I am hopping on a jet plane to Idaho. A sibling reunion, sky diving, squeezing and hugging my two cute little nephews, and birthday celebrations are in order. It will be the best birthday ever.
